Radiofrequency Vein Ablation (ClosureFast™):

For the effective treatment of varicose veins, patients across New York and New Jersey choose radiofrequency ablation. A highly effective and minimally invasive treatment option, radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins utilizes radiofrequency energy to heat, collapse, and then seal off the blood vessels being targeted.

Performed by a highly skilled physician, vein ablation is a treatment where the non-functioning vein is closed off. This can be done with radio-frequency waves, laser, chemicals, glue or by damaging the vein mechanically. In a radiofrequency ablation, waves emitted from the ClosureFast™ catheter heat the inner lining of the vein, which causes it to scar and close down. The ClosureFast™ catheter is inserted into the vein through a tiny needle stick into the offending vein. Guided by ultrasound imaging, we treat a 7 cm segment of vein with a 20-second burst of radiofrequency energy, causing the vessel to shrink around the catheter. We slowly withdraw the catheter, treating each segment until the entire length of the vein has been sealed. An average length vein can be treated in this manner in just three to five minutes. Unlike painful vein stripping surgery or laser ablation, the radiofrequency ablation catheter delivers uniform, consistent heat to each segment and temperatures do not exceed 120° C. As a result, this procedure causes less bruising and serious complications from radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins are extremely rare, and this process ensures rapid patient relief and recovery.  Patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation for their unsightly varicose veins are able to walk the same day of their treatment, and are soon after cleared to return to full activity in 2-3 days.
